Ice Giant in Inquisitive Gemini
2025–2033
So many wonders to discover…
The Revolution of Intelligence
“Gemini is the house of Mercury, and the exaltation of the Head of the Dragon is in its 3rd degree. It has three decans: the first decan belongs to Jupiter, the second to Mars, the third to the Sun. Its nature is hot and moist, airy, sanguine, its taste is sweet, and it is a masculine sign, diurnal, bicorporal, belonging to spring, and in its last part the daylight becomes longest, many-faced, flying. To it belong tall trees. In human form, eloquent, barren, powerful in voice, youthful, beautiful in face, generous, good in its soul. To it belong of the body of man, the shoulders, the upper arms and the hands. To it belong of countries Gurgan (Caspian Sea), Armenia, Azerbaijan, Gilan (southwestern coast of the Caspian Sea), Burgan (Danube Bulgarians), Muqan (Caspian region of Azerbaijan), Egypt and Barqa (part of Libya).”
— Abbreviation of the Introduction to Astrology by Abu Ma'sar (850 AD)
Uranus is an ice giant and the first planet discovered with a telescope on March 13, 1781, by the English astronomer of German descent, William Herschel. Uranus stays in each zodiac sign for about 8 years, and it will first visit the sign of Gemini—paying a visit to its nimble host, Mercury—from July 7 to November 7, 2025, and will then settle in from April 26, 2026, through August 2032. The visit of such an eccentric guest to Gemini will transform all spheres under the jurisdiction of this air sign. If the host of Gemini himself, the winged and sociable Mercury, is a planet of contrasts, primarily due to its proximity to the Sun-King, then Uranus—possessing the coldest temperament of all the planets in the solar system—is a planet of striking extremes, even rotating on its axis at an inclination of 97.8 degrees, which is why it appears to us to be lying on its side. Uranus brings reform and revolution rather than evolution. Being the seventh planet from the Sun, Uranus knows it only by hearsay, unlike the Sun's favorite, Mercury, one side of which faces the Sun for long periods and which, due to its particular proximity to the Sun, is actually difficult to observe—from Earth, it is visible only occasionally as the morning or evening star.
Gemini—friendly and sociable, curious and intellectual—is the sign of communication and partnership, governing everyday interaction, one’s circle of acquaintances, primary education, information, and broadening one’s horizons, as well as travel and movement, particularly within the local area. Gemini is an Air sign—and if Mercury in Gemini has a changeable and volatile, yet undeniable dignity, then so does Uranus!
Curiously enough, Uranus itself was discovered on March 13, 1781, while it was transiting through Gemini (!) using such a scientific and inquisitive instrument as a telescope; however, the earliest known observation of Uranus took place as far back as 1690, also during Uranus’s transit through Gemini (!) by John Flamsteed, who mistakenly took Uranus for the star No. 34 in the constellation of Taurus.
Uranus has manifested itself twice in the sign of Gemini—that must mean something! Turns out, Uranus is curious about itself—and that’s precisely where the duality or mirror-like nature of the sign of Gemini comes into play.
Gemini is the domicile of Mercury, and Uranus is also called the superior Mercury, so in this air sign, it feels in its element. While Mercury governs information, contacts, mediation, trade, and travel, Uranus is rather the planet of intuitive discoveries, insights, and revelations (literally like a bolt of lightning!), as well as technical means for obtaining information, communicating, and traveling. Uranus rules aviation and communications unimaginable without modern technology, whereas Mercury governs simpler, conventional forms of correspondence and travel.
Speaking plainly rather than metaphorically, we should bear in mind that Uranus is associated with lightning strikes, alternating current, electrical engineering, the use of electricity and high-voltage equipment – everything invented by Nikola Tesla, but not by Edison..
Uranus is not a peaceful planet, but a planet of abrupt changes and revolutions requiring sacrifices for their experiments, just like any radical turning point..
Many scientific discoveries are used in warfare, and Uranus also controls all modern military technologies. Uranus symbolizes scientific and technological progress and the scientific and technological revolution—in other words, the age of “wonderful discoveries”—everything our intellect is capable of.
1774/75 – 1781/82
First of all, as it passed through the air sign of Gemini, Uranus revolutionized our understanding of air in 1774!
The most vivid example of Uranus in the element of air is Joseph Priestley’s discovery of oxygen; until the end of his life, he remained convinced that he had discovered phlogiston (in the science of that time, the phlogiston theory prevailed—a certain “fiery substance” believed to fill all combustible materials and be released during combustion). It was precisely on August 1, 1774, when Uranus had just taken its first step into Gemini, that Priestley conducted his most significant experiment. Among the gases he isolated was a colorless and highly reactive gas, which he called deflogiston and which Antoine Lavoisier would later name oxygen. This discovery seems simple, but it overturned a belief that had existed since the time of the Ancient Greeks regarding Fire, Earth, Water, and Air as simple and indivisible elements. Although new elements were being discovered throughout the 18th century, the concept of Air remained vague: no one had any idea what this air was made of, and various “airs” were discussed. From experiments, they knew that to change the nature of this very Air, a substance must either be heated or burned. Priestley revolutionized the science of his time by discovering that air is not an indivisible and simple substance, but a mixture of different gases.
In addition to oxygen, in the 1770s, manganese, chlorine, barium, molybdenum, tungsten, and tellurium were discovered. They were all used to improve the properties of steel (for example, manganese enabled the production of armor steel) and in electrical engineering. Chlorine was used both as a chemical weapons agent and for the production of other toxic substances: the infamous yperite and phosgene were already in use during World War I and the Italo-Ethiopian War. Interestingly, inhaling large amounts of manganese in industrial environments can lead to severe mental disorders, hyperirritability, and hyperkinesia—known as “manganese madness.”
Science advanced, and harmless experiments (for everyone except the lab mice and rabbits) led to destructive inventions, including the development of the poison gases of World War I, and in the next cycle of Uranus, to the creation of the atomic bomb.
1941/42 – 1948/49
In December 1942, with Uranus finally moving into Gemini, Fermi’s experiment demonstrated a self-sustaining process of uranium fission—the first controlled nuclear chain reaction, which paved the way both for peaceful atomic energy and for military projects, and marked the beginning of the nuclear era. Shortly after the first atomic bomb test in 1945 (with Uranus in Gemini!), atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, largely for testing purposes.
With this example, we can clearly see that Uranus represents the destructive aspect of Shiva, being the patron planet of leading-edge military technologies.
The 1940s witnessed a forerunner of future artificial intelligence in the form of a program-controlled calculator: the Harvard Mark I, an electromechanical machine developed in collaboration with IBM, which was the first large-scale digital computer capable of performing calculations without human intervention once it was started. Around the same time, the radiocarbon dating method was discovered for determining the age of various objects.
However, Uranus in Gemini is not only a triumph of intellect but also an ease of mating, given that Mercury is not the only planet influencing Gemini—a sign of acquaintances and contacts, including sexual ones—but also Venus, responsible for romantic feelings and hormonal function.
During Uranus' transit through Gemini, the hormone progesterone was discovered. It later became the main component of birth control pills, whose production began during Uranus' transit through Cancer in the early 1950s. As early as 1942, R. Marker discovered Mexican dioscorea, the roots of which were used with alcohol to distill a syrup that he later converted into progesterone; the production of steroid hormones has gradually begun. Progesterone was first used as daily injections to sync up the estrous cycles in groups of cows in 1948.
Mexican dioscorea is a plant known for its unusual, armor-like caudex and for producing diosgenin, which is used to synthesize hormones such as progesterone..
1858/59 – 1865/66
The appearance of a comet, mass migrations, and discoveries as significant as that of oxygen
On June 2, 1858, Italian astronomer Giovanni Donati observed the second brightest comet of the 19th century (after the Great Comet of 1811)—which became the first comet ever photographed. Additionally, the unique two-layered African Lake Tanganyika was discovered (the upper layer is rich in oxygen and full of life, while the lower layer is filled with hydrogen sulfide and lifeless), the Möbius strip was invented, and William Thomson (later Lord Kelvin) invented the mirror galvanometer. Furthermore, the speed of nerve impulse transmission was measured for the first time in a frog’s nerve cell. Yet the most significant event, comparable in importance to Priestley’s discovery of oxygen, was the publication of Rudolf Virchow’s theory titled “Cellular Pathology”, which was immediately translated into nearly every language in the world, where he outlined the principle “omnis cellula e cellula,” meaning that cells develop only from existing cells.
Essentially, Virchow revolutionized medicine by dismantling the pre-existing mystical notions regarding the nature of diseases, demonstrating that disease is also a manifestation of life—albeit under conditions of disrupted bodily functions—thereby bridging the gap between physiology and pathology. His work divided the history of medicine into “before” and ”after.”
The first transatlantic telegraph cable was laid at Uranus in Gemini, after several unsuccessful attempts, resulting in the completion of the first telegraph line across the Atlantic Ocean—a feat achieved largely thanks to the efforts of American merchant Cyrus West Field; the first transcontinental postal service also began operating in San Francisco.
In 1859, Charles Darwin sent the first three chapters of “On the Origin of Species” to his publisher; this would become one of the most influential books ever published.
The mass deportation of the Circassians (Adyghe) from the Russian Empire to the neighboring Ottoman Empire—during which the tsarist authorities deported approximately 800,000 people (including those who perished)—more than 90% of the population—took place precisely during Uranus’s transit through Gemini from 1858 to 1865. By 1866, very few Western Circassians remained in their homeland; moreover, not only the Adyghe but also other peoples of the Central Ciscaucasia were forcibly deported.
To tone down an overly scientific article, let’s recall that Gemini is also a sign of connections and pairing and is associated with the hands (!)—so let’s turn to the topic of sex. We must admit that even here, Uranus’s transits through Gemini have played an important role. The fact is that many women in 19th-century Europe suffered from bouts of “hysteria” (from the ancient Greek ὑστέρα)—this term encompassed numerous symptoms: from irritability, aggression, and abdominal pain to nymphomania and faints. However, doctors of the time did not associate this widespread ailment with a lack of sex. They patiently performed a special manual massage, striving to bring the patient to the desired state—attacks of “hysterical paroxysm”—and only then would the illness temporarily subside. Especially around the turn of the 1850s and 1860s—such pelvic (genital) massage was at the height of its popularity and the most frequently prescribed remedy for “hysteria,” and it was precisely then that experiments began to create the first clockwork vibrators, which proved ineffective because their clockwork quickly ran out. However, in the early 1860s in France, with Uranus in Gemini, a special “genital douche” appeared, sending a jet of water that induced the desired “paroxysms”—that is, female orgasms—in a matter of minutes.
The term “paroxysm” derives from the Greek word παραξυςμός, meaning excitement, irritation, or an acute attack of illness, which can manifest in various forms.
USA 1858 – 1865
For the United States, Uranus’s transit into Gemini is always significant, because Uranus is located in the sign of Gemini in the country’s natal chart—and at the 9th degree, the so-called “royal degree” (!)—so every time Uranus returns, the country faces a serious crisis. In the second half of the 19th century, almost immediately after Uranus entered Gemini in September 1858, public debates began between Lincoln and Douglas (a senator from Illinois) on the question of slavery; in 1860, Lincoln came to power, and the four bloodiest years in American history followed: the secession of the Southern states and the Civil War, which began on April 12, 1861, at the peak of Uranus in Gemini.
Uranus is very strong in the U.S. chart, so every time Uranus transits Gemini, it brings radical changes and transformation to the country. Uranus’s power can be seen not only in science fiction films and action movies featuring modern weaponry, but also in the fact that their favorite heroes are often “alternatively gifted” or insane.
2025/26 – 2032/33
A Pale Bluish-Green Uranian Future
So what happens next?
By and large, it becomes clear to the reader where Uranus’s transit through Gemini is leading. Uranus’s loops between 2025 and 2033 will usher in a reign of intellect and scientific discoveries that will once again transform the world in a new cycle:
- It is likely that a breakthrough in rejuvenation technologies—or, more precisely, in age reversal—will be achieved, as Gemini is a youthful, spring-like sign. Progress may also be made in combating the decline of intellectual abilities with age and degenerative brain disorders such as dementia and others.
- It is already clear that we are on the verge of a revolution in intellectual capabilities driven by Artificial Intelligence, which will involve experiments with bioimplants. Later, the merging of “intellectual” systems with living organisms cannot be ruled out. These emerging trends will lead not only to a transformation of the process of learning and acquiring information, but, in the worst-case scenario, it can be assumed that in the distant future, during the next Uranian cycle, to discrimination, for people with intellectual abilities exceeding the norm will live in high-tech “smart cities,” while others, considered second-class citizens, will live more naturally, but in the “Stone Age.”
- Technologies related to cloning, gender reassignment, and birth control (especially hormonal contraception) will advance—for Uranus in Gemini will give free rein to intellect and science, but not to ethics.
- In the sky near Planet No. 3—that is, our Earth—a multitude of artificial stations and communications satellites, such as Starlink, OneWeb, Amazon Leo, Iris, and others, will appear on their near-Earth orbits. In the future (as early as the next Uranus cycle), “space wars” between these groups are possible. The sky will be dotted with and filled by artificial objects, which will complicate astronomical observations of real celestial objects—planets, stars, galaxies, and nebulae.
- Perhaps a neighboring comet will fly by for a closer look, and research vehicles—such as Mars rovers and the like—will provide insightful observations of the surfaces of planets in the solar system, along with information about the satellites and moons of recently discovered celestial bodies. And if we let our imaginations run wild, creatures from neighboring worlds might even make their presence known—through clear signs or information.
- Preference will be given to air and high-tech methods of warfare, as well as to drones, “cyborgs,” and robots.
- Intelligent, AI-powered vehicles and transportation systems will be developed. So-called virtual travel may become popular.
- Cash payments may lose ground to convenient electronic payments, the digital currency, and “light” payment methods such as tokens and cryptocurrencies.
- There may be inventions to help us respond instantly to emergencies: for example, buildings could rise up on air cushions or even float in the air during natural disasters.
- Glaciers may begin to melt at an accelerated rate, and new microorganisms may be discovered beneath the ice.
- We can expect migrations and resettlements, with some peoples being displaced and others settling in their territories—including within Russian territory—at best, in a peaceful manner. These processes may also affect Russia's neighbors (in the southern regions): Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, the Caspian Sea coast, and the Ural region.
- The United States is facing another round of transformation and crisis, most likely an internal one (with the threat of division), although it cannot be ruled out that this will result from involvement in foreign military operations.
- The coming years may prove to be historically significant for St. Petersburg as well, since the fundamental celestial configurations present at the time of its founding in 1703 are repeating themselves.
At the beginning of the cycle—from July to August 2025, as well as in 2026 and 2027—Uranus will move in tandem with the dwarf planet Sedna, whose influence on world events is still being studied. Sedna is associated with herds and an abundance of animals, primarily marine mammals and, likely, livestock (mainly animals capable of providing sustenance); and, in opposition, with mass devastation and ruin, famine and genocide (whether humans are responsible for it or, conversely, are the victims), as well as with otherworldly phenomena, contact with the underworld, and that which lies hidden beneath the ice.
If we look back just a short while, Sedna’s influence can be seen in the mid-19th century, when whaling reached catastrophic proportions—Sedna was at the end of the zodiac sign of Pisces, and was also in conjunction with Neptune. At that time, the only thing that saved the whales from complete extinction was the discovery of oil in Pennsylvania by Edwin Drake in 1859 (during Uranus’s transit through Gemini!), who drilled the first commercially successful oil well and revolutionized the production of cheap kerosene from crude oil with his discovery. This almost instantly, within a few years, eased the plight of the surviving whales, for kerosene cost significantly less than whale oil, while matching it in combustion properties.
We can assume that Uranus’s transit will cause transformation in the realm of this Inuit goddess, as well as in the lives of its inhabitants (the northern peoples, marine animals, and spirits), including the partial melting of ice caps and icebergs.
In Inuit and Chukchi mythology, Sedna (in Inuktitut, Sanna or Samna—“the one below,” “the one beneath”) is a spirit or goddess and the mistress of marine animals, especially mammals (seals, walruses, etc.). She lives in Adlivun, the Eskimo realm of the dead, and rules over it.
Note that from 2025 to 2029, Uranus will loop in trine with the two outer planets, Neptune and Pluto, so the transformation of reality will be multifaceted and profound. New developments related to alternative energy sources may emerge. There will be attempts to build a society based on a new philosophy and principles, rooted in the advanced possibilities offered by the technological developments of modern science (for example, the possibility of instant electronic voting on the blockchain, which cannot be forged or tampered with, or a “transparent” society built on social ratings instead of lengthy prison sentences). However, this same configuration is capable of provoking the ethical problems of the new era (for example, related to cloning), climate change, large-scale migrations, and a threat to world peace, for the distant planets Neptune and Pluto are in a weak position and are not inherently benevolent toward humans or other living beings—they are simply Archons of cosmic-scale processes, and therefore may also indicate coordinated actions by alliances in trade wars or wars fought over territories and resources, especially in 2026–2029. In 2028–2029, Pluto in Aquarius will form an exact opposition to its position in 1945, when the first atomic bomb was dropped. Interestingly, children born with this trine will be a unique generation of the new era. In human society, a new phase will bring forth the idea of an eternally youthful or even immortal superhuman with outstanding intellectual abilities that eclipse even the most brilliant geniuses of the past and present, potentially leading to a new duality and caste system. However, it is a characteristic of the human mind to constantly distinguish and compare oneself with others. The final word will still rest with Paramatma—for all that exists is its manifestation.
